About Little Bee
Kathy first opened Little Bee Howrah in July 2007, with the aim of offering a curriculum designed specifically for school readiness. Now running at full capacity, this centre is a tribute to the brilliant team of 6 staff members and all our loyal families and children.
Wayne came on board and joined the Little Bee journey in 2008 with the opening of Little Bee Airport. Kathy and Wayne were faced with the new challenge of running a much bigger; 76 placement centre. Over the years the numbers at Little Bee Airport have grown to over 165 families and over 30 dedicated staff.
Our Management Team
Kathy Lewin
Owner/Operator
Kathy is the owner and manager of both Little Bee Centres.
Having initially worked as a Director of both the Howrah and Airport Centre, Kathy now works as our head educational leader in a training and support role across the two Centres.
Kathy has a Bachelor of Education, specialising in early childhood education and holds qualified teaching status in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
Kathy has taught in kindergarten classrooms for 10 years prior to opening Little Bee Howrah in 2007 and has completed an Early Years Specialisation course, developing her own play based curriculum for Little Bee.
Kathy completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in 2001 and undertakes assessment of many Little Bee educators.
Kathy also completed a Diploma of Management in 2012 and works alongside her educators to guide and support them in their professional learning, while continually developing staff performance management.
Wayne Lewin
Financial Manager
Wayne is the financial manager of Little Bee. He owns and manages the two Little Bee Centres alongside his wife, Kathy.
Prior to opening of Little Bee, Wayne worked for 25 years in a front line management position at the Commonwealth Bank.
Wavne has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Customer Service. He is very experienced in sales management, customer service, project management and human relations, having recruited and managed large numbers of staff at one time.
Emily
Director Little Bee Airport
Emily has been in the education and care sector since 2000. She began working as our Airport Centre Director in January 2011. Prior to this, Emily was a Director for 4 years.
She completed her Diploma in Children's Services in 2001, her Advanced Diploma in Children's Services in 2004 and her Diploma of Management in 2012.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her son, Jack, and daughter Evie, taking her dog for walks, catching up with friends, gardening and cooking.
Sally
Director Little Bee Howrah
Sally began working at Little Bee in 2013, after many years as both educator and room coordinator at our Airport centre, Sally took on the role of Howrah Director in 2021. Sally completed her Diploma in Children’s Services in 2015 and has been working in the early childhood industry since 2010.
In her spare time Sally enjoys going to the going to the beach, spending time with her family and friends and hitting the gym – becoming the next Tia Claire Toomey.
